Water Wonders III - Wading for Water Mites

An enthusiastic group of 14 Park and ATBI staff, volunteers, and interested citizens participated in the third Wading for Water Mites workshop led by Dr. Andrea Radwell. Water mites were collected at three sites on Le Conte Creek, and participants were able to view specimens under high magnification and resolution using the stereozoom microscope and video system at the Twin Creeks facility. Collected specimens will become part of the ATBI database and will be used for taxonomic studies to determine what known species occur in the Park and which are new to science.
